Intrigue, characters, and plot twists were all part of the tale that was our Bexley Park stage.

On the second floor of our recent home, there exists a library.  Now, I’m not referring to a swanky term used to describe an office that’s got a few built-ins.  I am talking a floor-to-ceiling bookshelves library.  The library was filled with books and a deep blue velvet wing back with leather ottoman.  It was the epitome of a storybook moment.  The books used, were those of the homeowner’s and were almost entirely children’s books.

In fact, the whole home was like a story unfolding.  Everywhere you turned there was some interesting plot twist.  Like one would expect from a good book, the home pulled you in.

I have previously compared my cookie-cutter home to homes we stage because there is a distinct character about them that mine simply doesn’t have.  Even something as universal as the front door was significantly more interesting in Bexley Park.  It was an arched masterpiece and the complimenting arched screen door will still in place.  For a home built in 1938, that is amazing.  The door was a character!

Then, factor in other unique features such as the sunken living room or the labyrinth of rooms that kept going.  They don’t make storybook homes anymore and I feel privileged to have gotten to see one of the good ones.  Seriously, even the arches between the foyer and the attached rooms on either side were magic in their complexity.

We took care to keep that good-book vibe throughout.  We even staged the phone nook?!  A phone nook!  How unexpected!  (“Hello? Did you hear about the storybook house on Bexley Park?  It’s a dream!  Can’t wait to meet the new neighbors!”)

In this story, there was a happy ending.  A VERY happy ending, in fact.  Bexley Park received multiple offers and one was accepted after only a short while on the active market.  For the seller, that was the best ending they could have ever hoped for and we were so pleased to have our place in the story of the home with all its plot twist and turns.

The End
