The month of September is here and we were so excited to stage in the every popular German Village right below downtown Columbus.
This particular historic home was built in 1910 and had exposed brick, wood floors and personality everywhere. This house is really just perfect for entertaining. Close to multiple hotspots in German Village (Schmidt’s, Schiller Park, Book Loft, the list goes on…), we have a feeling that the home will be filled with visitors weekend after weekend.
Let’s take a look at some of the interior features that stood out.
The entry shows off the gorgeous wood staircase and a perfect spot to kick off your shoes and drop off your keys. Up the staircase exposed brick peeking out of the painted walls – what an artistic feature!
To the right of the entry is an open living and dining space, with exposed brick, a fireplace and lots of built-ins to show off your tchotchkes. We loved showing off several of our multiple “Columbus” pieces, like the street name poster, the Columbus sign and a cow for our beloved cow-town.
Right behind this adorable living room is the dining room. We brought in green and orange décor to play off the exposed brick, and the neighboring kitchen terra cotta floors & green cabinets. The kitchen has high-end industrial appliances, additional peninsula seating, perfect for entertaining. The kitchen windows have open shelving for displaying dishes and direct views out to the large brick patio for more entertainment space.
The second floor has three bedrooms and an updated full bath. The master bedroom has a custom closet with multiple drawers and storage, which helps free up space in the room for seating space. The spacious guest bedroom has a queen-size bed, an adorable dresser with all the guest amenities (sparkling water, a water tray with drinking glasses, towels) that will make any guest feel welcome.
One of our favorite spots to play up was a corner nook. We brought vintage pieces from our inventory, such as the suitcase and large globe to create a perfect reading space. We finished the third bedroom with our airplane-themed décor. Lastly, the fully updated bathroom with open shelving and new fixtures finishes out the second level.
A finished attic with a bench seat to view the Columbus cityscape and daydream is a perfect multi-functional space. We see buyers using this area as a second living room, an office, or even an art studio.
This home was so fun to stage, and we were able to think outside the “staging” box a bit. We love German Village and we think buyers are going to jump on the opportunity to own this home. Another home collaboration represented by Ned Merkle & Company and captured perfectly by JPG Media. Enjoy the photos!
It is always been a dream of ours to participate in a Parade of Homes, and this year we were fortunate enough to make this goal happen. These past several months we focused on designing and staging a home that was featured in the 2019 BIA Parade of Homes, and what an experience it was! Multiple meetings over coordinating tile, window treatments, backsplash, art, flooring, you name it, we were involved in many aspects. We partnered with Stonecliff Homes and America’s Floor Source to create a warm, organic home the buyers will love.
Evans Farm in Lewis Center, Ohio was the location for this year’s parade. This community has a new and exciting neighborhood concept called “New Urbanism”, where the goal is for homeowners to be able to do everything right within their neighborhood. Whether walking to a shop or riding a bike to the post office, everything is within reach from the front porch.
Let’s start with the exterior of this home. This exterior was quite a selling feature in itself. From the welcoming and long front porch, to the master balcony, to the sunroom equipped with a television, the back patio with multiple seating areas, and the separate garden, this home’s features were equally intriguing outside as they were inside.
Some of our favorite features on the main floor include the white-washed brick going up and down the staircase, the dark walls in the front two rooms to create depth, that gorgeous centerpiece that came from a shipwreck in Florida, the list goes on. Stopping at the dining room for a moment, we collaborated with Fortin Ironworks in Grandview to attach metal and transform this piece into a candle centerpiece that would be memorable to all. Custom artwork in many areas of this home, including the dining room, came from the talented local artist Dennis Rano, who perfectly envisioned and finished out this space. We carried the dark rich colors into the office with another art set from Dennis that blended perfectly.
The master suite with its own private outdoor balcony is a calming oasis, pulling in the blues on the walls with the tans and creams in our decor. Another custom piece of art is an extra large horse piece from, you guessed it, Dennis Rano. Around the corner is another unique feature – how about a coffee station in your own bedroom?! Finishing out the space is a dreamy large bathroom with double shower heads.
The princess room is probably the most photographed and posted bedroom in this house. The fabric tulle made multiple appearances in this room, whether it was draping over the bed, on the dressform, or as a bedskirt. Our goal in this room was to create an ultra-feminine and beautiful space, and we are so pleased with the end result. Pottery Barn was generous enough to lend us the tulle bedskirt and the mini Eiffel Tower in the corner – the tower even lights up! Antique suitcases, a brand new vanity and an antique door with a crystal knob complete this adorable bedroom.
The train bedroom was another popular favorite, with a life-size railroad sign, the customized railroad dresser by the local company Aardvark Furniture and the adorable “Sleepytown” sign above the bed. Other finishing touches include a toy train (of course!) and the cutest little overalls hanging on the hooks.
The last bedroom upstairs was the guest bedroom that we transformed into a garden theme, complete with the “Designer Challenge” watering can (every house was challenged to incorporate a watering can creatively into their design), silk flowers strategically hung on the wall, plants, a ladder, a gardening hat and of course, gardening gloves!
Finishing out the top level was a convenient and spacious laundry room and two gorgeous additional baths.
The lower level was so much fun to design and stage. We took inspiration from first responders and dedicated this space to firefighters. This lower level had three separate televisions, a pub area, a kitchen with its raw-edge wood island, and a spot under the stairs for the family dog(s) to relax! And who could forget the separate bathroom with its own urinal to really bring this basement to the next level. Some of our favorite pieces: the giant fire truck art piece created by Dennis Rano; our ever-popular Dalmatian piece of art with the Dalmatian’s spots being blown off by a fan; the ladders in the back with men’s magazines; and the ottoman made of firehoses straight from Delaware County.
All in all, this was a challenging and rewarding process for Sanctuary Staging from beginning to end. We are so thankful to Stonecliff Homes for this opportunity and we absolutely love the end product. Enjoy the photos!
This brand new home in Pataskala is ready for its new owners! Boasting over 2,400 square feet and a main level master suite, this open and spacious home has modern farmhouse appeal. Upstairs boasts three extra bedrooms and a flex space that we transformed into a teen suite. So many features packed into one house, and we were honored to staged it. Enjoy the photos!
One of our recent stages took us down to the gorgeous Old Oaks neighborhood. An inviting street with mature trees overhanging the road and the gazebo in the middle lawn bring the community feel right next to the city. This 119-year-old home boasted 3 bedrooms, a flex space on the third floor that we transformed into a living/study area, and a main level area ready for entertaining. Fun fact: the wallpaper throughout the home was imported from England! We also received great news that this home is already in contract after only 10 days on the market. Congratulations to the sellers, Realtor Al Waddell and the new homeowners! Enjoy the photos!
This lovely home just came on the market, but we have a feeling it won’t last long. This Westerville split-level has a completely open upper level living, kitchen and dining area, complete with a built-in wine bar ready for entertaining. Three bedrooms finish out the main level, including a master suite. We were excited to bring our “milk and cookies” themed bedroom along with the always popular bird-themed bedroom to bring some additional personality to this home. The bottom level showed off a space to hang out with friends and family, pop in a movie or play some cards in front of the fire. This home is perfect for entertaining, and we were so excited to stage it!
The Sanctuary Staging team recently made their way back to downtown Columbus to stage this 111-year-old beauty. This home has been completely transformed and is now ready for its new owner. Our favorite feature had to be the most impressive original wood floors, and like many of the owners and renovators we work with, they put their blood, sweat and tears into fully renovating this home. Boasting three floors of living space, this home has a modern yet warm appeal that many homeowners are looking for today. The owners paid attention to every tiny design detail, like the antique-style doorknobs, to stay true to the home’s historic appeal. This was another stunner that we were so excited to stage! We received great news that the home had multiple offers (one within 20 hours of going on the market) and is in contract within 9 days of listing!
We were so excited to work with the owners to help sell this completely updated Westerville home. This home boasted two living rooms, one of which was a massive great room perfect for entertaining. Three bedrooms rounded out the top level. If you are looking for a turn-key home in the New Albany school district, we would love for you to look at this one! Enjoy the photos.
We always love going back to the historic homes in downtown Columbus, and this condo in built in 1922 gave off an “urban elegance” vibe. Situated across the street from Franklin Park Conservatory, this home makes you feel like you were away from the hustle and bustle of downtown Columbus and off to a European villa. Enjoy the photos!
Sanctuary’s latest stage took us to the coveted Piper’s Pointe community within Tartan Fields.
Boasting 5 bedrooms, this home was strategically laid out and every detail was accounted for. Starting on the main level, the living room’s enviable ceilings and built-ins were ready for entertaining, looking into the custom kitchen area. Around the corner was a private office space with gorgeous bay windows. Rounding out the main level was a separate laundry and mudroom area, a guest bedroom suite, a 3-car garage and a large dining room.
This home had all the bells and whistles, including an upstairs theater space! We had so much fun bringing in themes to the upper level bedrooms, including a ballet room, a pirate bedroom and a circus bedroom. Finally, the HUGE master suite with a monster master closet (all closets in this home were large and amazing) and bathroom. Enjoy the photos!
Our next stage took us to the Evans Farm community in Lewis Center, where lots of new builds are going up for the popular Parade of Homes this summer (more exciting news on that front later). We were able to get in on the action of a newly constructed farmhouse-style home, and we had so much fun staging it! This home boasts an open main level, a master bedroom on the main floor, three bedrooms on the second floor, and plenty of personality and charm throughout. We know buyers are going to fall in love with this home!
